It doesn't matter which winter holiday you observe, there are really beautiful traditions that just "warm us through" during the cold winter. So tell us what your favorite winter holiday tradition is...Is it lighting a Yule log and enjoying hot cider with friends and family?

Every year, there was a carol sing. My folks started it and then when our house got too small, the sings shifted over to the house of the choir director. One song after another. Plenty of food. A lot of friends.

I celebrate Winter Solstice, not being Christian. But still, my favorite holiday tradition is listening to Handel's "Messiah." Now that I'm married to a music professor and classical musician, I no longer have to listen alone, which makes my tradition all the more lovely.
One of our traditions is to put our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving. Because I was working on NaNoWriMo, we postponed putting it up. The postponement lasted a lot longer than any of us had planned. The Christmas tree finally got put up last night.

My favorite part of Christmas is the togetherness. Cooking a huge dinner with my family is such a wonderful experience. There's laughter, and teasing, and joking around. This year will be the first time in a long time that we are mostly all together again.
