Because they sleep together ~ Weekend Writing Warriors / #8sunday / 03/08/15

Hi! Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warrior round. Every week writers post 8 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we "hop" around and leave comments on each other's snippets. Whether our work is already published or in progress, the helpful comments help us become stronger writers on our next WIP. We welcome EVERYONE's comments.

My entry this week is from Hostage Heart, a romantic suspense involving a young lady from Louisiana whose family was affected by the devastation from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The mysterious kidnapper returns to the cabin to find his crew tormenting Deanna and he angrily exclaims that she belongs to him and he is not sharing in order to protect her. They are back in the room together. He demands they keep up the PRETENSE and then starts undressing to get into the bed where Deanna already is. Uh-oh! (creative editing used to make this fit)

...and now the eight:

Why are you?

Because we sleep together. Just before he pulled off his boxer shorts, he paused, “youre welcome to watch, he chuckled when she quickly turned away.

He climbed into bed and sighed, I am not going to hurt you.

It took her a few minutes to muster the courage to ask his name.

Its Ryan, just Ryan.

Why are you doing this, why are you promising to help me?

You should never have been here in the first place, now go to sleep; youve got to trust me, Im all youve got right now.

Hostage Heart  by Chelle Cordero is available as an AUDIOBOOK and in All Ebook Formats and  Print Editions.

Life was hard after the hurricanes swept through, destroying her parents' home and livelihood...Deanna did the only thing she could do. She moved to New York City, found a job, worked hard, scrimped and saved to send what little she could manage back home to Louisiana to her parents.

An errand for her boss - a chance encounter with a crew of bank robbers - a kind man who tried to help her and deserved her courageous help in return... But he wasn't the man she thought he was...no, he was so very much more!

Review
Hostage Heart is a captivating read… I really enjoyed Chelle Cordero's 'Hostage Heart.  It read quickly and kept my interest until the very end. I would highly recommend this book and I plan to read all of the author's other books. It took me along on the adventure. I enjoyed the romance.

Well winter is certainly persistent this year and with only 14 more days until the official beginning to spring, it's still dropping that white stuff! I only hope when the warm up finally happens it will be gradual - I fear that an immediate thaw will drown us all!

I also must speak up in defense of those poor miniature snowmen that have been depicted on FaceBook with knives sticking into their little crystallized bodies and the words emblazoned "Die Winter Die" - Isn't it enough that when the weather does turn warmer they're going to melt anyway?

In the meanwhile I am getting great exercise from shoveling, so that is indeed a benefit. Now I am trying to figure out how to bottle up some of the cold air to save for summer and save on air conditioning.

Sending y'all warm thoughts!

Great snippet. I'm starting to like him, but I think she'd have trusted him more if he'd left his boxers on. LOL

I'm with PT on this one. lol She might trust him more if he stayed clothed. Enjoyed the snippet.

I still think he's arrogant as all heck, but I think I trust him to protect her now. :)

This keeps getting better and better, Chelle!

I'm probably in the minority here. Caution is a good thing!

Personally, I'll trust him with the boxer shorts on, not without!

boxers off work for me. I'm sure she's nervous anyway. LOL

I would freak out too. Maybe the boxers should've stayed on lol. Great snippet.

Lol, I'm with the others, the shorts should have stayed on;). Great 8 and I hope they can find a way out of this situation.

In general I don't trust kidnappers, but something about this man makes me believe he will help her. I hope so because he's right; he's all she has.

Just because she's got no other choice doesn't mean she has to trust him--just that she has to go along with what he asks.

Interesting story! I love the controversy over whether the boxer shorts should have stayed on or not LOL. Obviously an effective piece of writing from you :-) Great 8!

Quite the interesting situation. Coming late to the story but it appears there's more to Ryan than meets the eye.

I can see his reasoning. His crew are more likely to leave her alone if it looks like the two of them are involved.

Hmmm...I'd trust him more if he kept his boxers on, but maybe it's all part of his plan. Great snippet! I want to know more about them.

Interesting... ditching the boxers sends all kinds of mixed messages. Fun stuff for a writer to untangle. Good snippet.

Whew, heated and sexy! Love it, very fun, even if she doesn't trust him.
