Hi! Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warrior round. Every week writers post 8 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we "hop" around and leave comments on each other's snippets. Whether our work is already published or in progress, the helpful comments help us become stronger writers on our next WIP. We welcome EVERYONE's comments.

Last week I hadn't realized that I had already run through a group of A Chaunce of Riches snippets earlier this year, so I am changing direction this week and will feature my short story collection, The Many Faces of Chelle Cordero.
Here is a snippet from the story Not Alone...

Here is a snippet from the story Not Alone...
I ignored the changing numbers on
the alarm clock as long as I could. I still refused to believe that anything
that had happened over the past few days was real; it was all a nightmare,
that’s all.
As my toes sought the warmth of my
slippers, the tears began to fall again, no matter how many times I tried to
deny it, my best friend was buried yesterday. They wouldn’t let Jordan come to
the cemetery. Everyone blamed him, even me.
For the two days that Jordan had
been hospitalized, they kept him under a suicide watch. That angered him because it meant that people thought
he would want to take “the coward’s way out” as he called it. He said it wasn’t his fault, but he still blamed himself.

I'm curious for what happened. Jordan was hurt too, I don't really get why everyone is blaming him but not letting him go to the cemetery seems a bit harsh.
I'm with Linda, this snippet left me with questions unanswered...so hope you give us more next week.
Great snippet, really draws you in.
I like it! You did a great job of feeding the reader a lot of the details without pulling back and making it feel like an infodump. Seamlessly incorporated. Nicely done, Chelle :-)
Filled with painful emotions and mystery you leave the reader wanting more. I'm with Millie and Linda and hope you answer some of our questions;).
I'm moved by this eight without knowing the why and wherefore. I look forward to next week to get a peek at what's going on with Jordan.
So is Jordan physically injured or are they just watching him because he's so upset he's suicidal?
More will be revealed next week. Jordan was physically hurt but the events leading to it are what others thought might make him suicidal.
Intense and intriguing and raises so many questions. I'm very much hooked so excellent excerpt!
Makes me wonder what Jordan did--people don't always blame you for *good* reasons, but they usually have *some* reason.
Love it. Don't we all wish that sometimes we woke up and the previous day had all been a bad dream!
Oh, this makes me want to know what happened? Car accident? Jordan was driving? Something big went down. Great 8.
