Hi! Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warrior round. Every week writers post 8 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we "hop" around and leave comments on each other's snippets. Whether our work is already published or in progress, the helpful comments help us become stronger writers on our next WIP. We welcome EVERYONE's comments.

I'm introducing snippets from More Than a Friend, a part of The Many Faces of Chelle Cordero, a short-story collection which exemplifies (I hope) the diversity of my writing.
More Than a Friend is a short story based on a manuscript of the same name (which has never been published) This manuscript was co-authored by my sister, Barbara Cordero Du-Bois, and me. I re-wrote it as a short story because I wanted my characters to LIVE.
Everyone was left upset by Loretta's angry outburst. Mandy was so distraught she locked herself in the bathroom; Janis convinces her to let her in and the two women have a private but emotional chat. Next week I'll skip ahead a little in the story, but for now ...the 8 sentences:

“I am so sorry for what my mom said,” Mandy reached for Janis’
hand when she tried to shrug it off. “No, you’ve had to put up with entirely
too much crap, I love my brother and I miss him so much… but Janis, I know who
he was.”
“Of course you miss him, he was your brother.”
“No Janis. I know about the… argument, Billy called me that
night. He had a while to sober up and he felt terrible, he was worried that you
would never forgive him.”
She was breathless. “What did Billy tell you?” She felt her
throat tightening and fought to hold back tears.

You have me wondering what happened to Billy and what did the mom say?
Tense and emotional, as always. I'm with Millie, I want to know what happened to Billy. Great 8.
Congrats on all the awards, Chelle. Regarding the snippet, well done and leaves us wanting to know more. So 'fess up, my friend.
Nice snippet. I want to know more.
Sounds like there's some serious history here. Good snippet, Chelle.
The mysteries of love.
This could turn into a spin off or certainly several significant chapters. Top notch writing!
A well-written, emotional scene, Chelle. I'm glad you rewrote it with the mentioned changes. Do you think we get soft as we get older? :-) Good 8!
Wow, new information can cut either way, so I'm all ears for what's going to be shared. Really an excellent story you have going, altho based on such a sad event.
Interesting snippet. Well done.
You have me wanting to know what happened. Emotional snippet.
Love that phrase "I know who he was." When you lose someone, it can be easy to remember them as better than they were, but it's hardly fair to the living.
Holy frijoles! What DID Billy tell her! I'll be here next week with my popcorn waiting for the next eight.
Good tension and emotion. I'm with the others, wondering what Billy said. ;)
That was a tear-jerker! Man, so tense. You pick some great snippets. We've got to all have a snippet contest one day. Ooh, VHP should sponsor that. ;)
