Just like breathing ~ 60+ Days to Live, Breathe, & Write

In one of my earliest interviews as a published author I was asked
WHY do I write...
my answer was simple, "I write because I breathe."

When I created my Amazon Kindle Blog in 2009, I named it to reflect my love of writing

Living, Breathing, Writing

The blog received lots of acclaim and there were several subscribers, but when my publisher and I noticed that a few would-be blog users complained that they didn't have a Kindle (the blog was not available on a PC) we decided to make some of the lessons available to them & created
Living, Breathing, Writing: A Lesson A Day, Volumes 1 & 2

Soon we responded to more demand and created the wildly popular

60+ Days to Live, Breathe, & Write

print a copy of this sheet

60+ Days to Live, Breathe, & Write
has been used in classrooms and libraries across the nation!

Author in Residence by J.B. Naylor

Having Chelle Cordero's blog on my Kindle is like having an author here in residence with me. She gives inspiration, motivation, and best of all, practical advice and solutions. I love the "writing exercises" she offers at the end of each blog, as well as the "writing prompts". I've already used them myself and with my 6th grade writing class!

Just Google Chelle Cordero's name and you will see that she knows what she is talking about - her byline has shown up on many articles all over the country in newspapers and magazines. And she has authored multiple novels and short stories as well.

This is a terrific chance to learn from a pro. Until now only a few have been able to attend a writing workshop led by Cordero because of location, now so long as you have access to the internet or a Kindle you can benefit from her amazing tips. Her workshops have been so helpful.

in Paperback from Amazon and Barnes & Noble

Please review me...

At a recent party a friend was praising a couple of books that I wrote - I stepped to the side and asked her if she would be kind enough to post a review. She looked genuinely concerned and said "I wouldn't know what to write".
It's easy, if you can tell me one (or more) things you liked (or even disliked) about the book, you can write a great review. You don't have to be a professional book reviewer and you can post the review simultaneously on multiple sites.
You would be doing this author and all authors an incredible favor. Potential readers look for books that people want to read and seeing lots of reviews says to them that the book is worthy of their time.
So please, I know several of you out there have read at least one of my books - please help me by posting a review on Amazon, Barnes&Noble, Goodreads, YOUR Facebook page, Smashwords, KOBO, iTunes or send it to me for the Potpourri Parlor.
Thank you!

"a good quality book review is NOT the school-age book report. Your review should be a minimum of five or six sentences up to two or three (small) paragraphs. Don’t prove you read the book by including spoilers (that totally unexpected twist that really made the story). Write what YOU liked (or disliked) about the book; a book should be a personal experience for every reader so keep it personal. Be honest but never brutal; if the book was filled with typos for instance but was still a great story say something like “a few distracting typos took away from an otherwise terrific story”. (Always try to find something positive to say). If you didn’t like the book because it was not your favorite genre then own up to it; despite mostly four and five star reviews, my favorite review I received on one of my books was only two stars — the writer stated she didn’t care for it because my style was too much like Danielle Steel and she doesn’t care for Steel (who happens to be one of my faves). Again, review the book from YOUR perspective, YOUR likes and dislikes, and the impact the book had on YOU. Remember to be gentle but always honest."

This Mardi Gras season, read a book about a Louisiana gal

Mardi Gras History and Traditions

Mardi Gras is about music, parades, picnics, floats and excitement.  It's one big holiday in New Orleans!
Everyone is wearing purple, green, and gold, and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats. You'll see a lot of crazy costumes, kids everywhere, and both locals and visitors having a great time.  People sit on the ground, throw balls, play music, eat great food and watch the crowds walk by between parades.  During Mardi Gras, all of the businesses and roads are practically shut down.  People walk everywhere and meet new friends.

Deanna Blair grew up in Louisiana, her parents built a business outside of Baton Rouge. Deanna'a beloved mamere lived in New Orleans until becoming one of the scores of fatalities after the hurricanes and floods. Deanna, like her parents, is proud of the Louisiana and Cajun culture.

Hostage Heart by Chelle Cordero

Life was hard after the hurricanes swept through, destroying her parents’ home and livelihood…Deanna did the only thing she could do. She moved to New York City, found a job, worked hard, scrimped and saved to send what little she could manage back home to Louisiana to her parents.

An errand for her boss – a chance encounter with a crew of bank robbers – a kind man who tried to help her and deserved her courageous help in return… But he wasn’t the man she thought he was…no, he was so very much more!

Hostage Heart  by Chelle Cordero is available as

Read an E-Book Week 2013

Read an Ebook Week
March 3 through March 9

So... have I told you that all of my books are available as e-books?

Electronic books are full, real books which are readable on computers, tablets and other electronic readers (such as Kindle, Nook, IPad, Smartphones, etc.)

What a NOVEL idea!

I have an e-book reader that isn't much bigger than a paperback novel and certainly much thinner and I have more than 134 books stored on it - it's easy to carry this around during the day. Since I have books to read for enjoyment, reference, self-help guides and more, it's like I always have a library at hand.

There certainly is something to the feel of a real book, the touch of the cover and pages... and there is even something to be said for the smell of a print book, and I am sure there will always be PRINT books I will want to have at hand... BUT I DON'T NEED TO LUG THEM AROUND IN MY PURSE ALL DAY LONG.

E-books are most often more economical for the consumer. For example, list price on the new James Patterson novel, Alex Cross, Run is $28.99, the Kindle price is only $11.99. And Final Sin by Chelle Cordero sells in paperback form for $14.95 but sells in Kindle and other e-book forms for just $4.99.

Such a bargain!

You're worried because you don't have an e-reader? Well, if you are reading this on your computer (desk, laptop or Netbook), then you have an e-reader!

Yep.

You can download FREE software that will allow you to read e-books on your computer. Try the NOOK for PC, Kindle reader for the PC, or Adobe PDF reader . There are several more versions of e-readers and converters, just search online to find them. There are also sites like SMASHWORDS that offer many popular e-books in multiple formats.

Welcome to the convenience of e-books!

It's Read an E-book Week!

It's Read an E-book Week
March 4 through March 10

From Plato, the ancient Classical Greek Philosopher through the German Gutenberg printing press and now the E-book. Fans of words have seen many changes and not all were received without some qualms... In the 1930's paperback books shook up literary fans, was it even a REAL book? In the 1970s computers were quickly proving their worth by way of storage capability. The Declaration of Independence became the world's first e-book under Project Gutenberg. Today there are more than 120-thousand free books from Project Gutenberg and their partners.
There are several available e-book formats and folks are able to enjoy many favorite genres and publications on their computers or convenient e-book readers. All of my novels are available in various (money saving) formats including Amazon's Kindle and Barnes & Noble's NOOK, as well as ALL my books in text, .pdf, Mobi (Kindle), ePub (Apple iPad/iBooks, Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo), Palm Doc and HTML through Smashwords.

So why don't you read one of my e-books
& let me know what you think?
