Hi! Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday round. Every week writers post 8-to-10 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we "hop" around and leave comments on each other's snippets. Whether our work is already published or in progress, the helpful comments help us become stronger writers on our next WIP. We welcome EVERYONE's comments.
Dini becomes more distant when Seth seems to get flirtatious. Saved by Santa's sleigh being loaded and ready to go, Dini manages to brush him off... for now.
(the following may have been creatively edited to fit) ...and now the
“By
the way, my name isn’t really Santa.”
Dini
feigned surprise, “I’m shocked!”
“It looks like we have to get on our way,” without
waiting, she headed for the door.
He
made sure to take the seat next to her in the van; Dini buckled herself in and
quietly stared out the window, looking away from him.
“My
name is Seth.”
She
turned and nodded and then went back to staring out the window.
“May
I ask your name?”
After
a moment she turned back to him with a sweet smile that never reached her eyes,
“they call me Elf Number One.”
She
really didn’t want to make any new friends and especially not with a guy who seemed
interested in her.

Dini didn’t want to think about her past. And, Seth wasn’t thinking about anything but his past. Thrown together as Santa and his Number One Elf at the homeless shelter, Dini and Seth seem to be on opposite sides... of everything. Her past is catching up to her, and Seth may risk his future to protect her.
Believing in Santa
~~~~~Sincere thank you to all of our Veterans
Wednesday, November 11, 2015 is Veterans Day in the United States
It's a time to honor the service our brave military has given us.
In my story, Believing in Santa, Seth is an Iraq/Afghanistan vet
and so I dedicate this week's snippet to all of the brave men and women
who have protected our shores.
Icy! I wonder if she is going to regret her unfriendliness? Even without your blurb, you sense she is protecting herself
Oh my, Santa has his work cut out for him! :-) Good snippet, Chelle!
Elf number one, eh? Maybe he should call her Elfy for short.
Haha, I'm agreeing with Ed on that comment. I want to know the story behind why she doesn't want anymore friends that are interested in her. There's a story behind that.
Ha! Elf number one. Great response. Love your Veterans images as well. Enjoy your week!
Fun story ahead as they plow through giving gifts.
He's trying. Maybe he'll win her over? She's stuck with him for a while, after all.
Despite how pissy she is, this scene is pretty funny between the my name isn't Santa and the they call me elf number one. :) :) :)
I liked the dialog and loved her answer to him as to her name - quick thinking! Great snippet.
Cute! Wonder if she's going to thaw to him. He seems fun.
Oh snap. Great snippet. Want to read more!
I hope Santa is ready for a challenge.
Ouch! He's going to get freezer burn sitting next to her.
Oh ... can't wait to read how he's going to crack her!
Interesting snippet. I want to know the story behind why she doesn't want anymore friends to be interested in her.
