more from A Chaunce of Riches ~12/22/13 WEWRIWA

Hi! Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warrior round. Every week writers post 8 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we "hop" around and leave comments on each other's snippets. Whether our work is already published or in progress, the helpful comments help us become stronger writers on our next WIP. We welcome EVERYONE's comments.

As we continue with A Chaunce of Riches, Ben decides to stay and protect the wealthy Samantha Chaunce and her son even though his heart hasn't healed after her abandonment so many years before.

Ben sat quietly and watched her, Sam tried to go back to reading.
“So what happened to you Sam? I really thought we had the same values and the same dreams, when did money become so important to you?”
She didn’t want to have to defend herself to him, it would be too easy to be swept up in a lie. Looking away from him, she barely whispered, “what makes you think it wasn’t important all along?” She hoped that he couldn’t read the regret in her eyes.
“I thought I knew you better than anybody else just like I thought you knew me better; you were the only person I ever let get close to me.” He paused, “I thought our love was important to you.”

Ben seems to have done a lot of thinking, I wonder where he got lost on the way.

Wow, there's a lot of undertone, and heartache, in this snippet.

So sad. I can't wait till these two start really talking to each other, because I think you've got quite a backstory to share with us! Great excerpt!

So sad...to believe one thing and have everything ust turned on its head is so very tough. I wonder what secrets she's hiding.

It'll be interesting to hear her response.

A hidden conversation going on and until it's out in the open they can't clear the way. Excellent eight.

They're tiptoeing around that elephant in the room, but they're gonna have to admit it's there. Great excerpt.

Those two may need to be locked in a room until they can stop tap-dancing around the issues and work everything out.

How sad for them both.

Ah, there's a lot of pain there. Seems to be a lot more going on than what we see on the surface. Very nicely done:)

Great emotions, Chelle. Seems to be setting up for a candid moment. Good 8. :-)
